Academic Honesty

Extract from the ISD Academic Honesty Policy:

Academic Honesty

At ISD we believe the concept of academic integrity involves the qualities of fairness, honesty, respect, responsibility and trust.

Students who follow the principles of academic integrity:

  • hand in work that is honestly their own and clearly identify any:
  • contributions made by others e.g. by citing sources in written work
  • check that they understand the instructions for a task and seek help from the teacher when confused or unsure
  • understand that observed cases of academic dishonesty should be reported
  • do not take ideas or concepts from others and present them as their own
  • do not put classmates in a difficult situation by asking to copy their work
  • do not allow others to copy their work
  • acknowledge academic difficulties and discuss them openly to find solutions
  • accept correction or constructive criticism, recognizing that it helps them to learn accept responsibility for their own actions and words.
